le Kiosque de Junas

The pavilion is a municipal stone structure built for the town of Junas in southern France. Each year, masons from across France congregate for a festival and in exchange for the town's hospitality, work on its monuments and buildings. The pavilion project was conceived by two guilds, des Hommes et des Cailloux and des Carrières du Bon Temps, and built with stone from 12 separate quarries. Webb Yates Engineers undertook finite element analysis to justify the structure and developed a steel reinforced stone solution to give the frame strength and ductility.
