Webb Yates Engineers were appointed by The Sir John Soaneā€™s Museum to design temporary lighting towers as part of an installation by light artist Nayan Kulkarni for the Georgian Illuminations exhibition.

The concept was developed as an elegant and sustainable alternative to traditional scaffold lighting towers and the strong geometric shape chosen for its connotations of Georgian architecture.

The 4m tall temporary lighting towers are formed of CNC cut plywood elements that slot together and assembled using hand tools. Small ground anchors were installed to support the base of the structure allowing them to be removed at the end of the exhibition.
