Building Foundations with Pascasio Blasco

Pascasio 2

We catch up with Pascasio Blasco, Engineering Technician working in our London office, and talks about his favourite Webb Yates project, how he’s keeping himself busy during the pandemic and the benefits of working in a medium-sized practice.

How long have you been at Webb Yates Engineers?

I’ve been working at Webb Yates Engineers for 6 years.

What do you think the benefits of working in a medium-sized multidisciplinary engineering practice are?

I really enjoy working in a smaller firm as it’s more familiar, you get to know people better and I can be a lot more involved in the projects that I’m working on, which is exciting.

Which Webb Yates Engineers project that you’ve worked on are you most proud of and why?

I‘m most proud of the Kilo Box project because it’s been one of the bigger projects in the company that I’ve been involved in and it’s been a challenge in terms of design and coordination.

I’ve been working on this project from the beginning (stage 4) and I’ve enjoyed participating in the project development until we got the final design. I’ve also been coordinating our BIM information with the contractor and other disciplines, so I’ve learned a lot in the process from the early stage of the project onward.

What are you doing on your free time to stay sane during lockdown?

I think I’m doing well. I’m trying to keep a routine of exercises and walks around my neighbourhood. I’ve discovered so many amazing places in my area.

One of my passions is rock climbing and because all climbing centres are closed, we decided to build a small wall at home to keep practicing. It was great fun to both design and build my own climbing wall and to resolve similar problems to the ones we have with projects in the office. It kept me busy for a while.

Where is your favourite place to be?

I really enjoy being around the nature, I don’t have a particular place to be, it’s more interesting to discover new areas, but if I have to choose one place, I will choose Rodellar in Spain. It’s a small town where there is a big canyon and you can go climbing, of course. That’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy the nature.
