Cow Bridge in Architecture Today


Designed by Webb Yates Engineers, Cow Bridge provides access to Hackney Marshes from Mandeville Street and replaces an existing concrete bridge structure.

Originally built in the 1950s during the reclamation of Hackney Marshes after the war, 'Cow Bridge' was a single track traffic bridge connecting the marshes to neighbouring Clapton Estate across the Lea Navigation Canal. The bridge was closed to traffic in 2002 due to defects and inadequate design capacity.
