The new stadium for Southend United has now been given greenlight and the scheme is fit to go ahead after council lawyers signed off on the planning application.

Designed by Populous, the Southend United 22,000-capacity stadium forms part of the wider Fossetts Farm development that will comprise 1,491 new homes, a hotel and conference hall and retail and commercial spaces.

Webb Yates Engineers have been appointed to undertake structures, civils and building services engineering for the new state-of-the-art stadium, where the proposed stadium will feature a façade and shell-like form that will be incorporated into the roof, separated by blue polycarbonate strips.

The stands at the stadium will be fully covered and enclosed to provide fans with enhanced levels of comfort and enclosure.
