Planning news! The new pavilion and public realm in Elephant Park for Lendlease have been given the green light.

Southwark Borough Council has signed off on plans for the triangular pavilion, which will feature a spectacular public roof terrace centred around a mature London Plane tree in the heart of the park. The building will also include new community space and food and beverage kiosks. Construction work is due to begin shortly with the aim of completing work on the pavilion in summer 2021.

Sustainability and community have been key considerations of the design process. The structure of the pavilion will be constructed from cross-laminated timber and sustainably sourced timber used for the cladding and decking, while a new community space and public roof terrace will be important new community assets for local people.

Working alongside Bell Phillips Architects, all structural design will be made by Webb Yates Engineers.
